Students are learning about how images can communicate without the use of words. We looked at the art of Keith Haring and created initial designs. Their first letter represents who they are now and what they enjoy. Their second letter will describe what they want to be and have in their future!
Students will be learning facts about bugs and creating their very own bug sculpture using Model Magic Clay!
This week students are beginning to work on their butterfly mosaics. They will be using sticky art tape to create a symmetrical butterfly with beautiful colors! We will learn some cool science facts about butterflies as well!
Students are starting to work on PJ Funnybunny this week to help us think about the rabbits coming in the spring! Let's hope for some warm weather soon! We will be illustrating PJ using watercolor crayons, markers, and regular crayons/colored pencils.
Students are working on a George Rodrigue inspired art project this week! They are creating a dog in a color they choose. In the background, they will illustrate the reason their dog is that color. For example, maybe their dog is yellow because he enjoys laying in the sun!
This week we are learning about the Northern Lights! We will be using pastels to create them on black paper.
We are all working on the city project. We checked out on brainpop how buildings are constructed then we made a skyline tracer out of tag board. Next, students will be using pastels to create the glowing light produced by the buildings seen from far away.
Grade 3 students are beginning a super awesome project about elephants! Log in to brainpop to watch a fun video about the science of these mammals. Students are learning about the Indian festival that showcases these amazing creatures. My students will get to draw an elephant with marker and then it will be sprayed with water to create a tie-dye effect. After they are dry, the kids will cut them out and decorate them with fun materials like metallic paper, construction paper crayons, and pastels.
